Top Ten Running Backs (Week Three)

September 18th, 2008 | by aaron |

DraftMix weekly contests can be somewhat challenging when deciding to draft Running Backs listed as questionable. However, when you know your stuff, you know your stuff, and taking risks can and will prove beneficial in a lot of cases. Week three will be dominated with big games from big names from the Running Back position.

Michael Turner- Wow! The Chiefs are allowing over 200 rushing yards per game thus far and they play on the road in Atlanta. Which means, big numbers for Turner again. Projected Points-26

Marion Barber- For a big back “The Barbarian” Marion is the most versatile in the game. The Pack gave up a 100 yard rusher in week one and over 120 yards combined in week two against Detroit. What do you think Barber is going to do on Sunday night? Projected Points-24

Maurice Jones-Drew - Jones-Drew always plays well against the Colts and even though he’s listed as questionable, Del Rio and the Jags will implement him in the game plan a little more than they have. Look for an impressive week against a Colts defense that’s missing their number one run stopper. Projected Points- 22

Frank Gore- I’m not sure if Frank Gore is back to his 2006 form, but I am sure that the Detroit Lions will not stop him at home this week. Projected Points-22

LaDainian Tomlinson- It’s Monday Night, Tomlinson is questionable, he hasn’t found the endzone, and the Chargers are winless. Think he’ll be effective this week? Certainly! Projected Points-22

Brandon Jacobs- Jacobs hasn’t found the endzone thus far this season but playing that always miserable Bengals defense he should find his first two scores of the season. Projected Points- 20

Brian Westbrook- Despite playing an always tough Steelers defense, with a healthy Donovan McNabb and an emerging Desean Jackson to open the passing game, Westbrook’s versatility proves indespensable to Philly’s success. A healthy Westbrook will remain at the top of this position. Projected Points-20

Adrian Peterson- Even if he is questionable it’s extremely difficult keeping Peterson off of any top ten running back list. The Panthers are playing well but can anyone stop Peterson. Projected Points-19

Julius Jones- Jones got things going last week by rushing for 127 yards on 26 attempts. This week the Seahawks play at home against a miserable St. Louis defense. Projected Points-18

Thomas Jones- Brett Favre will keep the Chargers defense honest and Jones will keep them towards the bottom of the league against the run. Projected Points-17

Extra

Marshawn Lynch- Hard to leave Lynch off of a top-ten list when he’s playing an Oakland defense. I just don’t see the Raiders getting up for this east coast game and if so, they still won’t stop Lynch and a much improved Bills offense. Projected Points-16
