“The Gospel” Week 13 Wide Receivers

November 29th, 2007 | by aaron |

It’s simple; put Moss and Owens at the top every week and whenever the Browns play a good passing team place their receivers directly below them. No, it’s really not that simple, but nobody will ever foresee another game where Moss only scores four fantasy points or any other time where he’ll catch 4 touchdowns in the first half. Sort of like we’ll never guess another game where any receiving core is virtually shutdown in Cleveland.

This week’s “Gospel” is interesting, Roddy White made the list against a poor Rams defense, Fitzgerald finds his way to the top while facing the Browns, and a surprise veteran should find his way into the stat sheets.

Remember, “The Gospel” is somewhat different. Not a start’em sit’em list but more of a guide when faced with tough decisions and a helpful tool when playing in weekly cash competitions.

Take a look at this weeks top receivers and their point projections.

Randy Moss: The last time Moss didn’t score a touchdown he followed it up with only 11 fantasy points. Don’t expect that to happen again in Baltimore from the leagues best receive. Sure the Pats showed a little vulnerability but remember they average 40 ppg.
Projected Points: 25

Terrell Owens: Owens is another who likes the grand stage. Tonight he will be on it and look out as the Cowboys roll in “Big D”.
Projected Points: 22

Larry Fitzgerald: I have a friend that wanted to trade Fitzgerald early on in the season. Luckily Warner took over and Fitzgerald is on a roll. Against the leagues worst defense he look for another big game.
Projected Points: 22

T.J. Houshmanzadeh: Scoreless in two out of his last three contests and Chad catching 3 touchdowns last week, Housh will find the endzone in Pittsburgh.
Projected Points: 18

Braylon Edwards: The Cardinals defense gave up way too much against San Fran last week and the Browns are taking to much from opposing defenses. Edwards is a huge factor this week out west.
Projected Points: 17

Reggie Wayne: The fact is with Harrison less than 100% his presence alone helps Wayne out tremendously. The Colts will need it this week against the physical Jags.
Projected Points: 17

Greg Jennings: With Favre at the helm and determined to get his first win in Dallas, Jennings should see plenty of open looks against a vulnerable pass defense. I don’t care what the stats say, teams that throw the ball well find huge success against the Cowboys.
Projected Points: 16

Anquan Boldin: Despite his struggles I would have to believe that Boldin will find success against the leagues worst pass defenses.
Projected Points: 16

Roddy White: The Harrington/White hookup has found success this season and against the Rams they should find some more.
Projected Points: 16

Donald Driver: Driver could very easily be allergic to the end zone, but that doesn’t stop his effectiveness and his ability to make big plays. Green Bay is in for a shootout in Dallas and should be a fun game for everyone.
Projected Points: 14

Marques Colston: After starting out posting miserable numbers Colston has managed to average over 15 fantasy points over the last 5 weeks. Drew Brees’ number one option should see plenty of open looks this week.
Projected Points: 14

Joey Galloway: Without Garcia things are up in the air for the Bucs passing attack and Galloway is the only one who suffers. If Garcia is present Galloway will have a day similar to week 2 when he scored two touchdowns and gained 135 yards.
Projected Points: 14

Isaac Bruce: Now that Bruce is leaning towards 100% he’s playing well. The Rams still have a good enough offense where multiple players can and will be productive in fantasy points. This week against the Falcons I see Bruce catching his third touchdown of the season.
Projected Points: 13

Chad Johnson: Chad had his annual big game last week by catching 3 touchdowns and going for 102 yards on 12 receptions. This week will be different as there is only so much ball to go around in Pittsburgh.
Projected Points: 12

Brandon Marshall: Cutler doesn’t have many options at the receiver position and Marshall has proven that his big frame can and will get open. Not putting up great numbers but has played consistently well over the last couple weeks.
Projected Points: 12

Steve Smith: Smith is the bargain of the century. All the potential, could go off this week, but his quarterback and everyone else around him stinks. Flip a coin!
Projected Points: 10

Torry Holt: Holt is ailing and Bruce is playing well. If Bulger doesn’t play Holt will suffer from a fantasy perspective.
Projected Points: 10

Roy Williams: Who knows which player will show up this week for Detroit? With only 4 games in double-digits this season its difficult trying to figure out what is in the Detroit game plan.
Projected Points: 10

Plaxico Burress: His injury is just slowing him down too much and don’t let last weeks stats deceive you. Things won’t get any better for Burress as the Bears are looking to resurrect their season.
Projected Points: 9

Wes Welker: Welker has proven to me and the rest of the NFL community that he can and will come up big in tough games. However, with Ben Watson around it seems as though Welker’s numbers suffer to an extent. Don’t expect a huge game from New England’s third option.
Projected Points: 9

Dwayne Bowe: Bowe has had a decent rookie campaign but not enough to exaggerate any numbers for him. He’ll have another solid game but nothing to write home about.
Projected Points: 8
