“The Gospel” Week 13 Quarterbacks

November 28th, 2007 | by aaron |

Quarterbacks continue to dominate and they are definitely the most important position in all of fantasy football this season. How do you stop Brady, Favre, Romo, and others? You don’t, you just hope that you’re not facing them this week.

Remember “The Gospel” series is not a start’em sit’em list because you’re going to start all of these players. However, when faced with the dilemma of starting a player like Kurt Warner or Ben Roethlisberger this week you may find this list helpful.

Take a look at who’s who and what’s what for Week 13 of the NFL.

Tom Brady: Brady is coming off of his worst game of the season with only 22 fantasy points. Those are awful numbers for Brady so expect the Baltimore defense to take the brunt of the Patriots punishment on Monday Night.
Projected Points: 33

Kurt Warner: Warner is one of the few quarterbacks who is capable of throwing for three touchdowns or more in a single game. This week at home against the leagues worst pass defense (Cleveland) we should see just that.
Projected Points: 30

Tony Romo: If Dallas played in Green Bay this point projection would be different. But they aren’t and Romo’s home field advantage saves him and the Cowboys this week.
Projected Points: 27

Carson Palmer: With the weapons around Palmer you would think that he would be closer to the top in fantasy quarterbacks. Unfortunately, he’s not and averages a modest 17 points per game. But, even though the Steelers play shut down defense Palmer is destined to have a big day at home.
Projected Points: 26

Brett Favre: Favre always seems to struggle in “Big D” but this is a different year and a different situation. With the Packers sharing a conference best 10-1 record with Dallas this is a big game and big players normally play well in big games.
Projected Points: 25

Derek Anderson: Anderson has slowed down a bit but the important thing is the Browns are making a legitimate run at the playoffs. Cleveland travels to Arizona and this game will definitely be a shootout.
Projected Points: 22

Drew Brees: I always like Brees at home especially when he’s playing a mediocre defense. The Saints have saved a face and over his last five games Brees has averaged over 26 fantasy points per game.
Projected Points: 22

Matt Hasselbeck: After a tough New England match-up I just don’t see how Philly can show up this Sunday. They accomplished what no other team has done this season by losing by a margin of only three points. The highlight of Philly’s season and no reason to show up from here on out. Hasselbeck will exploit this underachieving Philadelphia franchise.
Projected Points: 21

Ben Roethlisberger: Ben hasn’t scored in double-digit fantasy points in his last two outings and the Steelers managed just 3 points in a win over Miami. Where are the Steelers and Roethlisberger headed these days? Luckily, Cincinnati is headed to town and offensively these Steelers should get things back on track. In their first meeting Roethlisberger threw for 230 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Projected Points: 21

Peyton Manning: In their first meeting in Jacksonville Manning threw for 259 yards, ran for a touchdown and threw a 35 yard strike to Dallas Clark while Indy dominated in a 29-7 win. Payback is one of those unwritten rules in the NFL and the motivation is behind Jacksonville to bring serious pressure on Sunday.
Projected Points: 20

Jon Kitna: Minnesota returned three interceptions for touchdowns last week in New York. Detroit won’t run the ball in Minnesota so their only hope is to find success through the air.
Projected Points: 18

Jay Cutler: Cutler has found a rhythm and this week against a weak Oakland defense he should continue that trend. In a Denver win Cutler had 12 fantasy points during week 2 in Oakland. Look for better numbers and another Broncos win.
Projected Points: 18

David Garrard: The Jags have finally figured out that they can throw the ball and with that running attack defenses will be totally confused. Garrard is looking for a little payback after leaving their first meeting against Indy with a knee injury.
Projected Points: 15
Don’t Expect Much:

Eli Manning: I can’t wait to see how Manning recovers from his awful performance last week against Minnesota.

Matt Schaub: Disappointed in Cleveland and now he plays in Tennessee. Long day for Schaub and the Texans.

Jason Campbell: Campbell has looked good over his last three weeks. However, distractions may hinder the entire Redskins organization.

Phillip Rivers: If Rivers is on a single fantasy franchise whoever has him must be a glutton for punishment. He’s the only quarterback in the league that can go from -2 points to 27 points overnight. This week he could very easily be back to -2 points.
