Fantasy Football’s Top Ten Disappointments

Based on where the majority of these players were ranked during the pre-season and where they were drafted in most fantasy leagues, these top-ten fantasy disappointments have fantasy owners losing their minds and experiencing the beginning stages of psychosis.

10. Drew Brees: With the exception of three weeks of play, Brees has been simply awful through nine games and cannot find any sort of consistency. The only good thing is Brees has picked it up enough to have him ranked 10th.

9. Maurice Jones-Drew: After acquiring Jones-Drew from the fantasy free-agent market in 2006 owners had extremely high expectations for his 2007 season. Despite playing in a running back by committee situation owners remained faithful by drafting Jones-Drew as their RB2 and currently he has more fantasy games under 6 points than he has in double-digits.

8. Bernard Berrian: He was definitely a fluke in 2006, but not to say that he isn’t a talent. To have believed in Berrian was like saying you believed in Rex Grossman and I don’t know which is more insane. Berrian is 28th amongst all receivers through 9 games.

7. Thomas Jones: Put it like this; even a blind pig will find an ear of corn every once and awhile. Owners were fooled by Jones’ two good seasons in Chicago. To date, Jones accounts for 67 fantasy points and a 7.4 ppg average.

6. Roy Williams: With all the options Williams has around him, you would think that he could be having a better season. I thought Johnson would take some of the spotlight away from Williams but he hasn’t and Williams still can’t manage to play great.

5. Frank Gore: We may have seen a career best in 2006 for Gore when he averaged 5.4 yards per carry, scored 12 touchdowns and grabbed 64 receptions. He’s horrible this season and has only 17 receptions through 9 games and a modest 3 td’s.

4. Steve Smith: Is it really Smith that we are disappointed in or is it his entire situation. Through 9 games Smith has 45 catches 590 yards and 6 touchdowns. On paper those stats look terrific but Smith scored 3 touchdowns in one game and two in another.

3. Vince Young: Who ever in their wildest dreams ever believed that Young was ready to produce on this level. On the field he’s been bad and in terms of fantasy production he’s been awful.

2. Shaun Alexander: Right now Alexander reminds me of when Herschel Walker was accepting his one way ticket to retirement. Twinkle-Toes is the only word that I can think of right to describe how Alexander has played all season. 2.

The number one pick couldn’t be any better. Haters hated, others laughed, but at the end of the day, Moss has gotten the last say.

1. Randy Moss: I could write an entire chapter on this one. Owners are just sick that they allowed Moss to slip past the first several rounds this season and haters are disappointed that they grossly misunderstood Moss’ ability. Now who’s “washed up”?
