“The Gospel” Week 11 Quarterbacks
November 14th, 2007 | by aaron |I guess it’s a known fact that all quarterbacks point projections should fall somewhere between the low twenties to high thirties. It’s absolutely amazing how they’re exposing and exploiting every weakness in opposing teams defenses and this week expect those trends to continue. Who would’ve ever thought that Brett Favre would play this well or Tom Brady would make playing the quarterback position look so easy. Even Peyton Manning who played the worst game of his career salvaged his poor performance (6 ints.) by finishing with 15 fantasy points and almost completing a 4th quarter come from behind win on the road.
Last week I found my most success with quarterbacks and even though I didn’t finish well in any cash competitions, I drafted Kurt Warner in the last round (24 points) and Matt Hasselbeck (22 points) which somewhat put me in contention.
Remember, “The Gospel” series is not a start’em sit’em list because most of these players are every week starters. However, “The Gospel” series is more of a guide in helping you determine the better options for cash competitions and to help with making the close call decisions in your season leagues.
Tom Brady: If you watch Brady long enough you will begin to believe that playing the quarterback position in the NFL is easier than than baking a pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving Day. It’s not, but in Buffalo this weekend Brady will once again deceive all NFL viewers.
Projected Points: 33
Tony Romo: Dallas is currently undefeated in their division and Tony Romo is showing no signs of slowing down. Romo has 28 and 31 fantasy points in his last two games and the entire Dallas offense is healthy.
Projected Points: 29
Ben Roethlisberger: Ben has an enormous amount of momentum going into week 11. Over his last two games he has 71 fantasy points which are huge numbers coming from the quarterback position in a “run” oriented offense.
Projected Points: 27
Drew Brees: Over his past five games Brees has averaged more than 25 fantasy points. This week he should find success against a mediocre Texans defense that can’t put pressure on the ball and won’t force any turnovers.
Projected Points: 26
Peyton Manning: After throwing for a career high 6 interceptions on Sunday, Manning looks to rebound at home. With Dallas Clark and possibly Marvin Harrison back Manning will prove why he remains the most sought after fantasy quarterback behind Brady.
Projected Points: 24
Brett Favre: No one plays better at home than Brett Favre. It seems as though the Packers have solved their run concerns and that only means more problems for opposing defenses.
Projected Points: 24
Kurt Warner: Once again, play or draft any quarterback against the horrible Cincinnati defense that has allowed 20 passing touchdowns.
Projected Points: 22
Donovan McNabb: Two games over thirty, one game at 20 points, and the rest in the mid to low double-digits. Which McNabb will show up this week? At home against Miami it’s feast not famine and McNabb should have an above average game.
Projected Points: 21
Derek Anderson: If Anderson managed to throw for 3 touchdowns on the road against the Steelers what will he do to this underachieving Ravens defense? Last week I projected Anderson’s point total at eighteen and he scored twenty-two.
Projected Points: 20
Marc Bulger: St. Louis travels to a struggling San Francisco team which allows 23 points per game and has given up 13 touchdown passes. St. Louis is coming off of there first win and S.F beat them in week two in St. Louis. Do I smell payback?
Projected Points: 20
Carson Palmer: Palmer is at home against a mediocre Arizona defense and with the addition of Chris Henry as a third option Palmer should have a field day. However, Palmer has only two games above 20 fantasy points this season. Be careful drafting Palmer too early this week.
Projected Points: 19
Matt Hasselbeck: Without legitimate weapons Hasselbeck continues to play well. With the exception of week 5 Hasselbeck has played well in every game this season.
Projected Points: 19
Eli Manning: Everyone is on the Detroit defense bandwagon and never stopping to consider that they’re 30th against the pass and have given up a total of 18 touchdown passes.
Projected Points: 19
Jon Kitna: Kitna has averaged a modest 10 fantasy points over his last five games and the Lions are 3-2 during this stretch. The Lions have not found a run game and the load remains on Kitna’s shoulders.
Projected Points: 18
Don’t Count on it!
Philip Rivers: Rivers is simply not living up to his expectations and everyone’s play around him is suffering.
Jason Campbell: Washington always plays Dallas tough, but going on the road and Dallas playing such good football, Campbell will have a long day.
Jay Cutler: Cutler played well in his first Monday night game against the Packers. However, passing for 264 yards and a touchdown wasn’t enough to get the Broncos a victory.
Vince Young: In Vince Young’s first ever MNF game he threw for 164 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for 21 yards in a win over the Saints. Don’t look for that type of production on Monday against the Broncos.
Jeff Garcia: Atlanta hasn’t given up much in terms of passing yards (202 avg.) or passing touchdowns (9).
