“The Gospel” Week 8 Running Backs
October 24th, 2007 | by aaron |As I’ve mentioned before this position has been the biggest surprise and biggest let down for the entire first half of the 2007 season and it’s not going to get any better this week with some of the top runners on bye week and the recent season ending injury to Ronnie Brown.
Remember, this is not a start’em sit’em list, but more of a tool when drafting in weekly cash competitions or when deciding which player(s) are the better starting options on your fantasy roster.
Lets take a look at this weeks top ten and a few others.
1. LaDainian Tomlinson: How do you not put Tomlinson at the top of the RB list after coming off of a 44 point game in week 6 and coming off of a bye week. Did I mention he’s playing a Texans team thats allowed 122 rushing ypg and one rushing touchdown on average in each of their first seven games?
Projected Points: 26
2. Adrian Peterson: I actually believe Kelly Holcomb is the better option at QB for Minnesota and he will allow for Peterson to find more running space. The Eagles play well against the run by only allowing two rushing touchdowns and a modest and 88 yards per game. However, Peterson will match those numbers in the first half this week.
Projected Points: 24
3. Willie Parker:Cincinnati bottled up Thomas Jones, but Parker is not Jones and the Steelers are not the Jets. The Bengals give up way too much so look for Parker to have his best game to date.
Projected Points: 22
4. Brandon Jacobs: Jacobs is beginning to shows signs of why I rated him so high in the preseason and playing against a Miami defense that ranks last in rushing yards allowed, expect Jacobs to have a big game.
Projected Points: 20
5. Brian Westbrook: Outside of McNabb, Westbrook is the only consistent option in Philly. Philadelphia and Minnesota will not be the defensive showdown that Westbrook witnessed last week against Chicago.
Projected Points: 20
6. Joseph Addai: As quiet as its kept Addai’s chest injury continues to plague him. If you watched the Jacksonville game you will understand that so look for less touches and less goal line opportunities.
Projected Points: 17
7. Marshawn Lynch: Lynch will find success, but not to the same extent as Kenny Watson did last week in Cincinnati. Lynch’s season high fantasy points is 15 therefore, expect similar type numbers.
Projected Points: 16
8. Lendale White: White’s first 100 yard game last week has nothing to do with his projected point total this week and a spot in the top ten. Oakland has given up 9 rushing touchdowns and averages 141 rushing yards allowed per game. Those two numbers are atrocious and because of that White will make them pay in Tennessee.
Projected Points: 16
9. Frank Gore: Gore will play and he will give the Saints fits all day long. Hasn’t been what most expected so far but this could be the game to get him on track.
Projected Points: 15
10. Jason Wright: Jamal Lewis is out and the St.Louis Rams are 27th in total rushing yards allowed. I swear I could rush for 1000 in the NFL if the only team I had to play were the Rams.
Projected Points: 14
Don’t be surprised when…
- Fred Taylor goes off for a huge number if Jones-Drew is out.
- Travis Henry finds himself sidelined for the most part of the 2nd half.
- “Twinkle Toes” Reggie Bush gets completely shutdown on grass!
- Lamont Jordan leaves the game because Tennessee is bringing wood to his A$$.
