Remain Patient
October 3rd, 2007 | by aaron |After four weeks in the NFL we should all have a reasonable idea on whom to start, which players to claim off of waivers, and which free agents are available in our fantasy leagues. Sounds simple and easy, but when you have certain players on your roster that you don’t want to cut then you’re faced with an entirely different dilemma.
Here’s a perfect example and one that I have experienced since my first draft of the 2007 season. Many critics told me that when I drafted Calvin Johnson, Dwayne Bowe, and Dwayne Jarret (in three different leagues) that I had way too many rookie receivers and that rookie receivers never do much of anything. Nobody liked the depth on my roster, and I’ll tell you what, they were absolutely correct in the thinking; however, they didn’t bother to realize these players’ unique situations.
Dwayne Jarret was in a situation opposite Steve Smith where he may have produced, but due to injury and the fact that he’s just not ready to perform on an NFL level he hasn’t seen the playing field. No big deal, I cut him before the beginning of week one.
