“The Gospel” Week 3 Running Backs
September 20th, 2007 | by aaron |Is this the year where wide-receivers get all the attention and running backs just find their role and stick to it? I ask that question because there are a lot of interesting things going on in the world of running backs and quite a few have not lived up to their expectations.
Running Backs are a little different in terms of the amount of games it takes to really get the engine rolling. Some start out quickly and fizzle out by mid-season, others start out on a good pace and carry it throughout the entire season, and some find defenses keying on them early forcing them to make a few adjustments then dominating down the stretch.
Using the Bruno Boys weekly rankings at each position we will all take look at how our beloved “Backs” will perform in week three.
Value Bets!
Joseph Addai: Predicted to have his best game thus far with 23 fantasy points. This is a no-brainer against the Houston Texans.
LaDainian Tomlinson: You always have to put L.T. up here, but playing Green Bay at home don’t expect 23 points from a back who has been struggling and a team that cannot move the ball. Hope for mid-high teens from Tomlinson.
Travis Henry: Killin the competition right now! Henry is expected to get 22 this week and I’m sure that’s about right.
Don’t Count On It!
Jamal Lewis: As much as I would love to agree with 18 points from Lewis I just can’t see him producing again this week. Look for another modest game of 10-12 points on the road.
Willie Parker: What I mean here is don’t count on the twenty points that he’s predicted to score this week. Of course you’ll start him but look for a figure around 15 this week.
Shaun Alexander: Alexander is expected to score in the ballpark of 25 points this week against the Cincy defense. Not gonna happen two weeks in a row in the NFL. Look for a mediocre game and fantasy production around 15 points.
Maurice Jones-Drew: I never expected Jones-Drew to do too much this season which is why I have Fred Taylor on my roster. Twelve points on the road in Denver is too much. Look for another game in single digits from this 2nd string back.
Reggie Bush: Bush will soon learn that not every play is a home run in the NFL. He won’t learn this against a disciplined Tennessee defense. Look for another single digit week from Bush.
Carnell Williams: Don’t look for too much production this week from Willams. I just don’t see him finding the endzone. Sixteen points is too high, but 10 is not out of question.
Don’t Count Out!
Cedric Benson: Chicago is likely to run all over the “Boys” this week. Benson’s predicted 8 points is way too low, therefore, look for a game in the mid-high teens (18).
Adrian Peterson: Acutually Peterson may carry the Vikes against this weak K.C. team. Look for another promising game by this rook. Predicted 8 points, but I look for at least 15 this week.
Derrick Ward: Eleven points this week against the Redskins? This guy is good so look for a game in the high teens this week. Worthy of a roster position over some of the more recognizable names.
Edgerrin James: The Ravens have to bend, but they don’t have to break. When they bend James will be the one trying to break them. Only 8 points predicted, but I look for at least 14 this week by the determined James.
Deshaun Foster: Playing the Falcons this week will give Foster the boost he needs to feel good again. It won’t happen in later weeks, but this is as good of time to start him as you’ll ever get. Look for Foster to fly over his predicted 13 points.
There are a lot more “Value Bets” in the Bruno Boys’ predictions on running backs.
