Your Fantasy Quarterback: Don’t Panic!
August 24th, 2007 | by aaron |I am currently running a series called “Making the Correct Decision” in which players are matched up based on their availability in the first or early second rounds of a fantasy draft, and readers decide which player is the better choice in 2007. For example, I’ve posted such match-ups as: T. Henry or Maroney, Westbrook or Bush, and Jacobs or T. Jones. Deciding which player is the better option when you have two studs on the board is probably the most difficult decision in any fantasy draft. These are the kinds of decisions that will determine whether you’ll be vying for your league’s postseason or will leave you apathetic and disgusted before Week Eight.
Whenever we hear the word “sleeper”, we automatically think of the RB or WR positions, and the QB position is never even mentioned. Why is it that “sleeper” quarterbacks are never talked about? Do they not exist? Is it the only position that cannot improve during the offseason? Is it set in stone that if a quarterback is not great from the moment they step into the league, that they will live in mediocrity and find their way out of the league within a few seasons? Of course not! The QB position is probably the easiest position to practice during the offseason and one where many players find great success dependent on their offseason work ethic. I won’t try to predict a sleeper QB, however, I will help you decide which QB’s are worth drafting if you happen to miss out on one of this year’s “Big 5”. Don’t panic - there is a strategy to combat this situation and one that will assure you a worthwhile quarterback who will fulfill your fantasy team’s needs.Read more…
