Blogger Draft 2007

August 19th, 2007 | by aaron |

I just drafted what I believe to be on of the best teams in this years Sports Blogger League. As I anticipated most owners knew what they were doing in this 12-owner league, but just like any other draft there may have been a few questionable picks in the first rounds and subsequent rounds thereafter.

The first pick went to the NFLGuru and of course he made the L.T. selection. Steven Jackson went #2 overall by Curveballs for Jesus. TJI went ahead and gambled in hopes that Larry Johnson will return sometime soon. The Hazean is obviously high on Shaun Alexander, whom I thought would slip to later in the first or early 2nd rounds and the Fantasy Football Goat chose Frank Gore with the 5th pick. This is where it gets fun because I had no idea that the draft started (even though I was sitting there and logged in a half hour early). Much to my surprise Joseph Addai remained on the board and I believe he could have gone as high as the #3 pick. Following my selection was The NFL Minute who wisely chose “Mr. Consistent” Rudi Johnson. Tino Sports Page who kept snagging my selections in the later rounds found reason to select Ronnie Brown with the 8th pick. I personally could have seen McGahee go here but different strokes for different folks. The FF Librarian rightfully chose Laurence Maroney next, followed up by MWC Football with Brian Westbrook. I’m somewhat of a surprised that Westbrook went this late considering many Mock Drafts had him going in the top half of the first round. Another proven player that went late in the first was Willie Parker drafted my myfantasylineup and to close out the first round and the start of round two Signal to Noise made excellent selections by drafting Travis Henry and Willis McGahee.

Honestly I do not see how I can lose a game this entire season, take a look at this lineup.

QB Jon Kitna

RB Joseph Addai

RB Deuce McAllister

WR Marvin Harrison

WR Randy Moss

TE Jason Witten

Def Minnesota

K. Jeff Wilkins

RB’s Warrick Dunn, Chris Henry, Priest Holmes

WR’s Calvin Johnson, D.J. Hackett, Dwayne Bowe, Dwayne Jarret

I’ll pick up another quarterback, defense, and kicker in free agency to fill-in my bye weeks. Otherwise, I feel like I have a pretty solid starting lineup with a couple of potential trade baits on my bench.

If Kitna is as interception prone as he was last season, you’re in for it, though.
