Making the Correct Decision (Owens or Fitzgerald)
August 14th, 2007 | by aaron |I don’t think this is so much of a tough decision, but more like a personal preference or a personal vendetta on which of these two players you will choose.
We all know that Owens has all the tools to remain a top receiver in this league. However, will he remain accountable, does he have the quarterback, and does he possess the control needed to remain focused and produce his typical all-pro type season? We all can remain focused on Owens’ short-comings, but when we take a minute to focus on his attributes we cannot deny his unquestionable abilities.
On the other hand, we have the mild mannered, humble, and business like wide-out Larry Fitzgerald. Never complains, shows up for work, plays hard every game, and has the ability and talent to produce the same types of numbers as any top receiver in this league. However, he also plays on a team in question with an unproven quarterback and a suspect offensive line.
Here are a few things to consider when you’re in the quandary of selecting Terrell Owens or Larry Fitzgerald.
1. Owens remains the best athlete on the field at all times.
2. Fitzgerald is the younger receiver coming into only his 4th season and has a tremendous upside.
3. Owens is playing with the better team and Dallas is surely a favorite to make the playoffs and possibly win the NFC East where Owens will play a huge role.
4. Owens is a veteran receiver and even though he lacks leadership off the field, his peers do respect his on the field ability.
5. Leinart could be considered the better quarterback and the Cardinals could have the better overall offense.
6. Fitzgerald does not drop as many balls.
7. Fitzgerald has a quality receiver opposite him and defenses have to respect both as touchdown threats at all times.
That’s how I see this situation. I also see Owens as the better option and possibly the best receiver in the league. Therefore, when making a decision do not allow your personal dislike of Owens interfere with “making the correct decision” in your upcoming fantasy draft.
Make your decision here.

Fitzgerald may be the best receiver in the league this season. If Leinhart can step up, he will equal Smith, CJ and be better than Owens. Look at what he accomplished last season through an injury and a rookie QB.
