Blogger Mock Draft

July 24th, 2007 | by aaron |

My first ever mock draft was pretty interesting and “a whole lotta fun”. As usual most owners played it pretty safe in the first round by selecting whom they believe are the NFL’s top fantasy prospects. On the other hand, there may have been a reach or two.

Each day I anticipated which player the owners would select and I wondered if the player I really wanted would remain on the board for a possible 3rd or 4th round continuance. In most live drafts as soon as I secure my first two picks I am normally willing to show a little gamble with my 3rd pick.

The NFL Minute showed that he is capable of this same type of gamble in the first round when he selected a potential 1400 yard 10 touchdown rusher, Travis Henry.

Each selection went smooth, excellent write-ups/explanations for each draft selection and no real surprises except Larry Johnson who may be a possible holdout. However, The NFL Guru filled-in well and rebounded in the 2nd round with the selection of Steve Smith. Palmer could have been somewhat of a reach in the first round, but something tells me Signal to Noise probably participates in a few expert leagues. Frank Gore was a possible fluke last season and may be on his way back down to earth, but the FF Librarian showed her confidence in this third year stud. I personally ranked Joseph Addai as the 4th best RB so I’m not surprised that MWC used my rankings to draft Addai third overall. Just kidding!

Of course, Ladainian (Tino) went first, but I would have chosen Steven Jackson (Hazean) in that position. Then again, if given the opportunity I may have asked for a trade with either Curveballs or Next Gen which would have placed me in the middle of the first and second rounds. Cheesesteaks first round selection was a bit of a stretch (Laurence ’Kool Aid’ Maroney) unless the Patriots plan to play offense with two balls. That’s a joke, but it is the type of crap I talk throughout normal drafts to piss people off and create a sense of doubt for the later draft rounds.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a 3rd or 4th round in this Mock Draft and I am left wondering if Brandon Jacobs or Randy Moss would have slipped to the 35th or 38th overall selection where I would have possibly chosen one of them. Seeming like somewhat of a conservative draft pro, I do not believe that the Extrapolater would have drafted Jacobs or Moss late in the third or early 4th rounds, therefore, giving me opportunity to secure four fantasy studs. Oh well, didn’t go that way, but it’s still fun to think about the outcome of a few more rounds.

Anyway, just wanted to thank you all for participating and hope to see you soon. Good luck this season in all of your fantasy drafts.
