Hazean Mock Draft: 11th Overall Pick
July 11th, 2007 | by aaron |Wow! These guys are good. Not a single mistake made thus far in the first round of The Hazean’s fantasy football mock draft. In every league I’ve ever played in it seems that most owners are overzealous and inevitably make some sort of mistake. Not the case in this draft considering this group has shown an ability to draft at a professional level.
Online drafting is totally different than drafting in person. It’s total psychological warfare with owners in the “war room”. It’s the place where fear sets in and everybody’s attention is focused on each owner making some sort of mistake. You can talk as much sh!& as you want. You can laugh at the previous owners selection. You can put pressure on the next owner to make that perfect selection. However, with this amount of time to make a selection my credibility is on the line and nothing would be worse than making a bad pick and being laughed at without some sort of verbal defense.
I have plenty to choose from, however, the tempo is already set and the pressure is upon me to make the correct decision. As a matter of fact, I’ve almost changed this pick twice within the last 24 hours. I have a few draft ideas (sleepers) in mind but it’s entirely too early to act on them considering I would normally have that opportunity in the third or fourth rounds. I want to make that perfect 11th pick now!
There are a couple of players I would love to draft due to a personal liking, but I do realize that drafting on emotion is an amateur mistake. I’ve done my research, but research in the first round doesn’t really matter considering any of the top twelve players should be capable of carrying the load. On the other hand, making a big mistake early could possibly ruin an owner’s season.
Even though I have this player rated slightly below a few others I have to take him. The reason being; he’s dependable, he has posted great numbers during his career, and he plays for a playoff contender. When it’s my turn to select in the 2nd round (14th overall) at least one of these other players will be there whereas, I’m not sure my selection will still be available.
Surprisingly enough he has dropped this far. I ask myself why. Is it because he has no flash? Are his jersey sales below average for a player of this caliber? Is he injured? Has he unknowingly retired? Does he remain the feature back?
If I’m not mistaken he is entering the prime of his career at 28 years-old and hasn’t had too many touches, but plenty of TD’s and yards. I also realize that this guy plays against the Cleveland Browns and S.F. 49ers during the fantasy playoffs and the team he plays for will be vying for a playoff spot or jockeying for a home field NFL playoff game. This is will be huge late in the season considering I expect to make the playoffs.
Not the easiest pick, but for me this has to be the most obvious with the 11th overall draft selection.
They could label this player “Mr. Consistent”. One of the most underated and under appreciated players in the league who somehow managed to average 1400 yards and exactly 12 TD’s over the past 3 seasons. That player is none other than…
…Rudi, Rudi, Rudi
So with the 11th selection in The Hazean mock draft FanProphet selects; Rudi Johnson, Cincinnati Bengals
