NFC North (Lions Own The Top)
July 10th, 2007 | by aaron |Now that I have concluded my fantasy analysis of the NFC, I will rate the top players from each division then move into top players from the entire conference.
The NFC North features plenty of up-and-coming players who could very easily become the next great super-stars, however, youth has made this the most unpredictable division in the NFL in terms of fantasy production. Not an easy task rating these players, but making these types of decisions is where I got the name “FanProphet” The ability to see “what’s to come” by not rating players based on past performance or popular opinion, but on present value.
Here is a list of top fantasy producers from the NFC North division. My rankings are based on each skill position player who is worthy of a fantasy draft selection along with the value of team defenses, kickers and where they rate in terms of fantasy production for the 2007 season.
1. (RB) Cedric Benson: I have to choose the best runner on the best team in the North, Chicago Bears. If the Bears didn’t think Benson could carry the load Thomas Jones would still be there. Benson did manage to find the endzone 6 times last season and now that he has the starting role, look for that number to double in ‘07′.
2. (WR) Roy Williams: This guy has a lot of fun playing in the NFL and with this type of attitude look for Williams to “bring it” every Sunday. We all know what Williams can do and with a viable #2 WR option in Calvin Johnson, look for double digit TD production in 2007.
3. (WR) Jon Kitna: Does anyone remember when Randall Cunningham rejuvenated his career in his 2nd season with Minnesota? Well, Kitna is talking about throwing ‘50‘ this season and with the weapons around him he could come close.
4. (RB) Adrian Peterson: Rookies always make an impact somewhere in the NFL and this is where it starts. Trust me! Peterson is the ‘truth’ and even though he’s not a #1 fantasy RB this season, he will be in the near future.
5. (RB) Donald Driver: A proven player playing with a Hall-of-fame Quarterback. Driver has been consistent for most of his career and with Favre continuing to chase records, expect Driver to have another productive season.
6. Calvin Johnson
7. Brett Favre
8. Bernard Berrian
9. Muhsin Muhammed
10.Brandon Jackson
11.Tatum Bell
DEFENSES:
1. Chicago Bears
2. Minnesota Vikings
3. Green Bay Packers
4. Detroit Lions
KICKERS:
1. Robbie Gould
2. Jason Hanson
3. Dave Raynor
