Westbrook’s Versatility Leads NFC East
July 9th, 2007 | by aaron |Now that I have concluded my fantasy analysis of the NFC, I will rate the top players from each division then move into top players from the entire conference.
The NFC East is the biggest rivalry division in all of professional sports and will likely produce outstanding offensive performances in ‘07′. In divisional play for the 2006 season these teams averaged a combined total of 49 points per game in head-head play, an astronomical figure when considering potential fantasy production.
Here is a list of top fantasy producers from the NFC East division. My rankings are based on each skill position player who is worthy of a fantasy draft selection along with the value of team defenses, kickers and where they rate in terms of fantasy production for the 2007 season.
1. (RB) Brian Westbrook: There isn’t player in this division that offers the type versatility that Westbrook brings to the table. He finally had the opportunity to increase his rushing load and along with his known ability to catch balls out of the backfield Westbrook is now a dual threat that defenses better respect.
2. (RB) Brandon Jacobs: Take immediate notice to the young, powerful RB. Nobody in the NFL wants to tackle him and nobody in this division can stop him.
3. (WR) Terrell Owens: Most people would think I am crazy, but whenever you have a player who scores 13 TD’s and gains 1200 yards in only his first year on a new team, then you have to acknowledge his greatness. Remains a top receiver in this league.
4. (QB) Donovan McNabb: By far the best QB in this division and could be playing on the best overall team in the division. McNabb will pick-up where he left off before his 2006 season-ending injury.
5. (RB) Julius Jones: Under new head coach Wade Phillips, Jones has the potential to see more opportunities and display his talent at the RB position. Now motivated to perform without the confusion of Parcells, look for Jones to have a career season.
6. Clinton Portis
7. Tony Romo
8. Plaxico Burress
9. Reggie Brown
10. Jeremy Shockey
11. Santana Moss
12. Terry Glenn
DEFENSE:
1. Dallas
2. Philadelphia
3. NY Giants
4. Washington
KICKERS:
1. David Akers
2. Martin Grammatica
3. Mark Hickok/Shaun Suisham

Good call on Brandon Jacobs, he could be a #1 fantasy back this year. But I disagree with TO ahead of McNabb (in some leagues maybe) but generally Donovan will be a bigger weekly performer than his old pal/nemesis. In fact McNabb could surprise if he stays healthy…
