New Orleans Saints
July 4th, 2007 | by aaron |When it comes to the versatility of this franchise the Saints offer plenty to talk about in terms of fantasy production. With multiple skill positions having the potential to contribute, this offensive unit will only get better. Brees will also improve, which means even though he had a tremendous season in 2006, it was only a glimpse of what we will see now and in the future. Did I mention that Bush and Deuce will once again confuse and continuously put pressure on defenses? Get ready for another season of action, excitement, and productivity from these New Orleans Saints.
Drew Brees: The first thought I have when I hear the name Drew Brees is; how in the heck did San Diego lose confidence in this guy and waste a pick on Philip Rivers? Brees has tremendous weapons around him and last season where he threw for 4418 yards is only the beginning to what we will see in the future. Depending on the QB scoring in your league there are only a handfull of QB’s that should not make it past the 3rd or 4th rounds and Brees is one of them.
Reggie Bush: You wanna talk about only the beginning! Over 1300 total yards from scrimmage in ‘06′, look for Bush to get close to that rushing for the ‘07′ season. When you try to compare Bush to others before him you think of names like, uh, nobody. Bush is in a class by himself and he should will go late in the 1st or early in the 2nd round.
Deuce McAllister: Deuce is only in his 7th season and should be the other half of two 1000 yard rushers. His overall role will decrease somewhat, but Deuce will receive most of the carries inside the redzone.
Marques Colston: Someone has to catch the ball downfield and if this 2nd year pro doesn’t allow his rookie campaign to go to his head, he should have a better season than ‘06′. It’s not very often that rookie receivers come in and post the type of numbers that Colston showed in ‘06′. Not in the top ten yet, but in keeper leagues he could be a huge asset for the future.
Henderson/Copper: Like I said this offense is prolific and either one of these WR’s are capable of having big moments. The only problem is, you will be guessing from week to week so make it easy on yourself and stay away from either player.
Eric Johnson: Will not do much to add value to your team.
DEFENSE: A middle of the road defense in terms of fantasy production. I always enjoy playing with a defense whose offense is highly rated, has the ability to score quickly, and forces their opposition to play from behind. This will create many opportunities (not necessarily points) for this Saints defense.
Olindo Mare: Mare has consistently produced throughout his entire career. Now on a winning team look for multiple opportunities to score.
