Carolina Panthers

One thing about professional sports is we don’t hear or see a lot of things because of the “in-house” policy that most teams abide by. Let me say this; Keyshawn was a distraction no matter where he went and there is a reason why he is no longer with this team and decided to retire.

With that being said, these underachieving Panthers that we witnessed in 2006 will rebound from their lackluster performance, win their division, and should compete for the NFC title.

DEFENSE:This is where it starts within this organization. There’s no mystery that this is one of the most dominant defenses in all of football however, they definitely didn’t show us that last year. The Panthers play one of the easiest schedules in the NFL and teams will definitely experience an overwhelming backlash from this units sub-par performance in ‘06′.

Steve Smith: Lost two games last season due to a nagging hamstring injury but Smith still managed to gain 1100 yards and score 8 times. One of the best in this business so expect Smith to repeat his ‘05′ numbers.

D.Foster/D.Williams: Foster is the starter for now but Williams will see plenty of action. It’s way too early to tell but we all know that Foster runs hard and with tremendous desire. However, he’s never had a 1000 yard season so I look for Williams to takeover before seasons end. Both players are worthy of a fantasy selection however, make sure all of your needs are met before selecting either one. Williams has the greater upside.

Dwayne Jarret/Keary Colbert: I look for Jarret to win the job and/or have the better season, but here is another situation where it’s too early to tell. Either way it goes, neither one will crack your starting lineup unless you need to fill a spot due to injury.

Michael Gaines: If your league awards TE’s for their blocking skills then Gaines is a sure starter. If not, petition your league commissioner if you have plans of drafting this guy.

Jake Delhomme: I truly expect Delhomme to recover from last seasons debacle. There isn’t one player in the NFL who is immune to a season long slump. The entire franchise seemed in disarray and Delhomme took the blame on the chin like any true professional would. Look for Jake to recover, keep his starting job, and lead these Panthers.

John Kasay: Mr. Consistent! Mr. Steady! Mr. Automatic! Whatever you want to call him, call him a starter and a major contributer on any fantasy franchise.
