AFC’s Top Twenty-Five
June 23rd, 2007 | by aaron |Any robot can select the obvious draft pick. Rate the players in a computer program. When it’s your turn to select hit auto-draft. It’s that simple. On the other hand, do you have the guts to draft against the norm in order to compete at a higher level than your opponents? If you actually watched multiple games on Sunday instead of reading multiple stat sheets on Monday then accurate draft picks should come easy for you.
Just like everybody else, I could go into NFL.com and find out who did what last season and make my selections from there. However this isn’t Hollywood. Things do change. If everything remained the same in the NFL (like Hollywood) then there would be no point in watching games or involving ourselves in fantasy football. What most people fail to realize is that obvious draft selections do not win us championships. To win a championship you have to become willing to make adjustments, take risks, and go against the norm. No different than the NFL!
Don’t get me wrong, I am not suggesting trading a first or second overall pick to make a run at some unknown that you could’ve gotten in the fourth round. However, I am suggesting you stop studying mock drafts where people are drafting without any sort of pressure or accountability. Mock drafts are like playing poker for play money, there’s no risk, therefore, there is no pressure to make the proper decision.
It definitely didn’t take some mathematical equation or a mock draft to figure Tomlinson would lead this list, however, there are a few surprises (not sleepers) that will shake-up this league and compete for top honors in the AFC.
