Joseph Addai Is “The Man” in Indy

June 21st, 2007 | by aaron |

Now that I have concluded my fantasy analysis of the AFC, I will rate the top players from each division then move into top players from the entire conference.  From there I will move forward by rating NFC teams and players.

The AFC South was probably the easiest in terms of selecting the top 5 players, however, this division does feature a few sleepers this season which makes it a little more difficult rating the bottom 6-12 players. The division also casts a great mix of veterans who have dominated the statistical categories for years and a group of future stars who will become the next great NFL standouts.

Here is a list of top fantasy producers from the AFC South division. My rankings are based on each skill position player who is worthy of a fantasy draft selection along with the value of team defenses, kickers and where they rate in terms of fantasy production for the 2007 season.

AFC SOUTH SKILL POSITION PLAYERS

1. (RB) Joseph Addai- Easier said than done!  Manning supporters would disagree with Addai leading this division, however, I keep having visions of when Edgerrin James destroyed defenses with this franchise.

2. (QB) Peyton Manning- Best quarterback in the league and best quarterback in terms of fantasy production.

3. (RB) Maurice Jones-Drew- Humble, teachable, talented, and definitely a future star in this league.

4. (WR) Marvin Harrison- Even in his 12th season Marvin will continue to perform at a level most could only dream about.  By far the top receiver in this division with Manning at the healm.

5. (WR) Andre Johnson- Johnson has improved each season that he’s been in the league.  With the somewhat improved Texans I expect to see double the endzone appearances that he saw from last season.

6. (QB) Vince Young

7. (WR) Reggie Wayne

8. (RB) Fred Taylor

9. (RB) Ahman Green

10(WR) Reggie Williams

11 (RB) Lendale White

12 (WR) Matt Jones

DEFENSE (Based on fantasy statistical value)

1. Jacksonville

2. Tennessee

3. Houston

4. Indianapolis

KICKERS

1. Adam Vinatieri

2. Josh Scobee

3. Rob Bironas

4. Kris Brown

Where would you put Chris Brown now that he is back with the Titans?

That’s a heck of a question and I think too early to tell right now. One thing I know for sure is the runniback situation is a big mess, especially if Lendale gets in shape. Now you have 3 decent backs wanting the ball.
