Oakland Raiders

Unfortunately, I didn’t think to complete my analysis on this franchise first so I could bury them at the bottom as fast as possible.  I’m embarrassed for them.  Oh well, you live and you learn. I just hope I don’t offend any Raiders fans while trying to find a few positives in this lackluster offense.  Oops, I think I just did.

Well, it’s not like the Raiders are unaware of their lack of talent beginning with bone-head Al Davis.  The apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree as coach Lane Kiffin gives his brief statement on why the NFL players’ union has suspended the final week of the Raiders offseason training.  What a moron!

This may be the only team in fantasy football history where fantasy league drafts abroad should not draft a single player from this franchise until after the first 8-9 rounds.  Now that’s a shame!

DEFENSE: I have to give this unit some credit; they played hard all season long, loss all season long, but never gave up.  However, don’t be fooled by their statistics from last season where they ranked 3rd in total defense, which means absolutely nothing in terms of fantasy production unless they are dominate in the turnover and sack departments.  The one bright spot on this entire franchise only managed to produce 23 takeaways and 34 sacks.

Lamont Jordan

Dominic Rhodes

Joey Porter

Sebastian Janikowski

Ronald Curry

Josh McCown

Doug Gabriel

Take your pick.  Have fun!

Nice job on the evaluations. Thorough. Just think of what the Raiders could do if their offense could stay on the field for more than three plays at a time. I will take a flyer on them later on if the time is right.

Doug Gabriel makes a return trip to Oakland… he was suppose to have a breakout year last season, and the he got shipped out last minute. Think he is going to be able to do anything this year with a rook QB?

I have a friend who was drafted by the Raiders in the ‘05′ draft. He played the entire season and in ‘06′ the Raiders cut him last minute and the NY Jets picked him up. He was not too disappointed being cut by Oakland other than the fact that he had to move clear across the country.

My point is, I don’t think players are extremely happy about playing in Oakland. I’m sure Gabriel is happy to have a job again, however, I wouldn’t expect too much out of any player on this franchise.
