Indianapolis Colts
June 12th, 2007 | by aaron |Indianapolis is playing the sixth toughest schedule this season, which means, we can expect a full sixteen weeks of play out of the defending champs. As long as this Colts offense remains this good, the defense will continue to rely on them to win games. Without any improvement within this defensive unit, the offense will have to continue to score in the thirties to remain competitive. In terms of fantasy points, you couldn’t ask for a better scenario.
Joseph Addai: I’m sure we all remember when Edgerrin James ran the ball with this franchise and in the four years where he was 100% healthy, James managed to accumulate over 2000 combined yards rushing/receiving and averaged a total of 14 touchdowns? Well welcome the new franchise back with speed, agility, quickness, and the ability to make defenses look ridiculous.
Only in his second season and now the every-down back in a prolific offense, I look for Joseph Addai to have a sensational season while he surpasses the 2,000 yard barrier and scores double digit touchdowns in both rushing and receiving. Do not sleep on this guy as he will lead this offensive unit in fantasy points.
Peyton Manning: What else can I add that everyone else doesn’t already know? Manning has the best wide-receiver tandem in the NFL and with the addition of Anthony Gonzalez, Addai’s ability to catch the ball out of the backfield, and the Dallas Clark factor, look for Manning to once again accomplish record-breaking numbers.
Marvin Harrison: Twelve years in the league, 122 touchdowns, almost 14k yards, and no signs of slowing down. Another great season and still on your top 5 receiver list.
Reggie Wayne: There is only one ball to go around and with the addition of Gonzalez I look for Wayne’s touches to decrease from the previous three seasons where he averaged 8 td’s and a little over 1100 yards. Wayne is a quality receiver and will remain consistent but will suffer with the addition of Gonzalez and the emergence of Addai. However, Wayne remains a #2 receiver option.
Anthony Gonzalez: Gonzalez has all the tools to become a very good receiver in this league. However, now is not the time to consider him for anything other than a reserve fantasy option. He should not be left undrafted in later rounds only because this is the NFL and injury is always prevalent.
Dallas Clark: Great player no good for fantasy.
Adam Vinatieri: Whenever you have the opportunity to draft a kicker on a prolific offense you have to make a decision as to when you pull the trigger. Look for Vinatieri’s number to increaseĆwhere he will lead the NFL in points scored. Opposing teams are always going to play the defending champs tougher than normal so look for multiple scoring opportunities for this future Hall-of-Famer.
