The Cavs Will “Shock The World”

What would be a better scenario for the NBA, Duncan winning his fourth championship or Lebron at the tender age of 22, bringing home a championship for a city that hasn’t won anything in the last 40+ years? Oops, I made a mistake, the Cleveland Crunch (I think its the Crunch) won several indoor soccer championships. Does that count?

In my many years of wisdom and with my uncanny ability to pick unsuspecting winners in the past, I look for this group of young professionals to show the world what Lebron is really made of by bringing home this years NBA title to the championship starved city of Cleveland.

Being born and raised in Akron, OH I have had the privilege of getting first hand information on Lebron’s career, along with watching him bring home 3 out of 4 state championship titles in high-school. Many people across the world do not realize that Lebron has been in this same situation. As a matter of fact, I think the NBA doesn’t even recognize this scenario.

Not only was Lebron a 7-time all-state high school selection in football and basketball, he led his St.V/M basketball team to a state championship as a freshman and a total of three during his high-school career. As a freshman he had no pressure to win or perform at the level he shown us that he was capable of performing at. The point is he’s a proven winner who will find a way to get it done.

This NBA Finals is a similar situation; he’s young, inexperienced, doesn’t have much help around him offensively, and isn’t expected to win. Could a player ask for any less pressure? With the amount of scrutiny thus far in his short NBA career, Lebron actually gets to go out on the court Thursday night and have FUN. As a matter of fact, he gets to go out for 7 games and have FUN. Still no pressure! As a Cavs fan, could you ask for a better scenario?

Ladies and gentleman, contrary to popular belief, the Spurs are not that good. They were gift wrapped the the Suns series, they got lucky that the Mavs were dominated by a horrible Golden State team, and they beat a young and primarily untalented Utah franchise who doesn’t have the luxury of a superstar. The Spurs inherited best case scenario’s throughout the playoffs.

Prophecy:

This is the best matchup that the Cleveland Cavaliers could ask for. Duncan (Mr. Fundamental), has no clue what Eastern Conference defense is like on a consistent basis. As he continues to out craft his undisciplined counterparts in the Western Conference, Duncan will have to work much harder in his efforts to outwit the likes of Ilgauskas, Gooden, and Varejao. The Cavs play well-disciplined, body-up defense in the post (especially Z and Gooden) and ‘Timmy’ will not be as big of a factor as most believe.

However you want to look at it, I believe Duncan has the worse matchup against this Cavs team. Now, come out and guard Z or Drew at the top of the key, Timmy!

Gibson will not play the same role this series. He will play well and be an integral part to this series, however, he will not be as big as most people anticipate. He didn’t get lucky in that Detroit series, he just had the opportunity to grow and he took advantage of his opportunity just like any other true professional would. Eric Snow will display his veteran defensive leadership abilities by putting lock-down, in your jock defense on Tony Parker. Frustrated, while causing multiple turnovers and poor shooting, I look for less time and a possible mid-game benching of Parker for a more conservative Jacques Vaughn.

‘Big Shot Rob’! X-factor no doubt! But, will not get the opportunity to make much of a difference and take that big shot.

Lebron will have FUN, the Cavs will win this series, and with Lebron’s dominate play, the “Cavs will Shock The World”

It’s yo’ ball, check up!
